How we Work

Wo’Takuye Oyate is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit committed to building community through a decolonial framework grounded in traditional principles of leadership and collective responsibility.

While we have a Board of Directors that meets annually to provide organizational oversight, our day-to-day work is guided by a horizontal leadership model. Community members are empowered to lead and shape the development and delivery of culture-focused events, programs, and gatherings.

You don’t need experience to get involved—there’s a place for everyone. We host monthly organizer sessions where community members come together for mutual support, collaborative planning, skill-building, and capacity building. Whether you have been organizing for years or are just getting started, we welcome you to learn, contribute, and grow alongside us.
